Leaving a Legacy

Our unique, scientifically-proven process infuses cremated ashes into the tree, transforming them into essential micronutrients that nourish and help it grow.
Rest among the rich fauna of Wellington Forest. Planting a Legacy tree rebuilds the habitat and helps to protect the beautiful endangered species endemic to the region, such as the quokka and Carnaby’s black cockatoo.
In the heart of nature and teaming with wildlife, it is a memorial forest within a forest, an idyllic resting place for ourselves and our loved ones. Ashes are treated and planted with your chosen tree to become part of a place everyone can enjoy.
Rest at the gateway to the south west. The Wellington Dam Memorial Forest is an easy drive from Perth and perfectly located en route to WA’s stunning South West region.

Very peaceful place for the burial of my grandfather Jimmy. The owners of this place have great compassion, and a great sense of understanding of the family bond that comes with each and every life that comes and goes. I am immensely impressed that the people that run this place know you by your name and not just a transaction.

My husband and I have a tree here. Visited the other month and the sunlight filtering through was so beautiful If you want toilets etc there is a kiosk just up the road at the dam and bush camps if you want to make a weekend of it. Pretty sure dogs can visit with responsible owners (e.g. on lead and poo taken away, not left in the plastic bag!)

Today my brother lives on forever, amongst the beautiful trees at Wellington Dam. With my mum, dad, and daughter, I finally got to say goodbye I’d been waiting 35 years for. From death comes to life and the circle is now complete. Cherish yoyur family for you, and they, are here for but a moment.

Really peaceful place to bury your loved ones ashes under a tree. They can live on as a part of a native tree and generations of family and friends that were in their lives have a perfect place to visit and just be with their thoughts and memories.

FAQs - Living Legacy

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I pre plan my funeral by purchasing my tree now?
Yes,
many of our 500+ forest families are pre planters, who delight in watching their tree grow. They often visit with their families to enjoy a picnics in the forest.
Do I get a certificate to put with my will?
Yes,
every tree is issued a unique identification number, which you will find laser cut into your tree marker. This number tells us exactly where your tree is located in all of Australia. Now you can rest knowing your wishes are known!
Will my memorial be protected?
Your tree is protected by a conservation covenant (policed by the Department of Biodiversity, Conservation and Attractions). Your tree can never be cut down! And if your tree dies, we simply replace it.
Will my family have to pay again?
No,
while a grave needs constant maintenance, the forest you are helping to enhance will naturally bloom! This means, unlike a cemetery, in 25 years your family will not have to pay more to keep your tree.
Will my memorial be looked after?
Living Legacy Forest is managed by Legacy Conservation Forest, a registered public charity with a board of directors. We have a forest manager looking after the trees, also staff and volunteers to look after you, and your family, when hugs are needed the most. You can meet us, and our forest families, at one of our Open Days or Busy Bees through out the year. Or simply book yourself in for a forest tour.

Your Gift to Person, Place, Planet

For every Living Legacy tree planted, an additional 200 trees will be planted locally and abroad. This offsets the impact of cremation & gives back more air than a person breathes in a lifetime.
